YAHUKIMO - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Infantry Battalion 6 Marines, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Yahukimo Regency area, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Saturday, 21 September 2024, the Marines Task Forces, especially the Bravo Post led by Second Lieutenant Alter, conducted Social Communication (Komsos) with children of the Massi Village, Dekai District, while performing the areal security patrol. This Komsos aims to foster trust and cooperation between the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the local community to support the Indonesian Government’s program of accelerating the development of the Papua region.
In his emphasis on the Soldiers, the Commander of the Marines Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung, conveyed the importance of the Task Forces' attention to the basic necessities of the community around the Post. Therefore, on Saturday, the Soldiers took advantage of their task by interacting and communicating with some Massi children. The interaction occurred when the Marines Patrol Team passed by the area of Massi Village.

While maintaining their focus on security, the Soldiers took the opportunity to communicate in harmony with the children. In this communication, the parents of the children conveyed the security situation updates in the Massi village, which is still relatively safe and conducive. The residents also felt happy with the concern of the Soldiers who stopped by the village. One of them, Markus Tabuni, described his impression by saying, "Thank you, Commander Marines. God bless", a powerful testament to the strong bond between the community and the Task Forces. This heartwarming response from the residents underscores the impact of the Task Forces' efforts, as well as the unity and support in the assigned area. The feedback from the residents has an essential impact on military operations, demonstrating the community's influence on the Task Forces’ operations.
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the Marines Task Forces’ initiative to communicate socially with some children in Massi village. His words: "The Marines Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive social communication with all stakeholders to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development. It instills profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively. It makes the Task Forces and the community feel recognized and appreciated for their efforts.
